Blake Lively's Style Through the Years

Blake Lively is an award-winning actress, director, founder, activist, wife, and mother (in addition to being our founder's style inspiration). Amongst her many talents, she is also a fashion-forward icon. Let's dive into some of her most memorable looks since reaching stardom. At the Kids Choice Awards in 2005, young Blake posed in a pink and blue crop top with cuffed Abercrombie denim and a pink belt. This outfit screams being a teenager in the Y2k era (hello, Blumarine)! 2005 was also her first significant movie premiere for The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The California native always had a fun and effortless sense of style.

As Blake Lively's career grew, so did her style. At the Gossip Girl launch party in 2007, Blake turned up the heat in a black satin pantsuit and an unbuttoned white shirt with sexy blonde curls. Portraying Gossip Girl's fashionista Serena van der Woodsen took Blake's style from the laid-back girl next door to the chic it-girl, parading red carpets in designer looks for years to come. At the 2009 Emmy Awards, Blake stunned in a red Versace gown featuring a high slit and plunging neckline with her waves hidden in a tight bun. At the 2011 Green Lantern movie premiere, Blake stunned in a pseudo-bridal white Chanel dress with 3D camellias and fittingly married co-star Ryan Reynolds a year later.

Blake Lively's most jaw-dropping fashion moments have all been at the Met Gala. In 2014 she channeled old Hollywood glam in a gold Gucci dress with retro waves. So Veronica Lake-esque! In 2016 she matched the Met Gala steps in a romantic blossom-like Burberry gown. Then in 2018, she made a statement in a custom Versace red and golden gown with the longest train with a custom-made halo by Lorraine Schwartz. One of her "favorite looks yet." And as of 2022, as a homage to NYC, she stood tall in an Atelier Versace gown with intricate detailing of NYC, a crown inspired by the Statue of Liberty, opera gloves, and dangling earrings. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds embrace on the Met Gala carpet each year, always capturing the cameras' attention and the hearts of those on social media. Still, the star of the show is always the couture masterpiece Blake is showcasing at the time.

Blake Lively has had many great red-carpet moments that didn't make the cut. But we have her mom to thank for Blake's incredible sense of style. Blake has said she owes her great sense of style to her mom because, as a kid, she watched her mom invent outfits from anything and create lipstick and blush from household objects. Blake's playful nature in her youth persists in her style today - whether running errands in her chic take on street style or walking the Met Gala carpet in Versace, Blake has an intuitive taste that has carried her through without a stylist. Regarding custom work, Blake always shows gratitude and gets very involved in projects with designers. She has worked with Ralph Lauren, Chanel, Versace, Michael Kors, Gucci, Dior, Karl Lagerfeld, and others who speak highly of her. What makes Blake Lively's style so memorable is how dynamic it is. She is bold and eclectic but modern and effortlessly chic. We can't wait to see what she wears next! For now, shop our edit inspired by Blake Lively's best-dressed moments on and off-screen!
