Meet Shay:

Shay moved to Nashville with her (equally gorgeous) family from Jacksonville when she was young, so she's one of the few people who can *technically* say they're from Nashville. She's a model, proud mama, and TikTok sensation, known for her incredible hairstyling & makeup videos you can actually recreate on yourself. We're proud to have her as one of our ICONs, and if you don't already love her, you're bound to by the end of this interview. Her golden energy permeates through her words and photos, truly.

How do you start each morning?

Mornings are my favorite! I'm usually up early so I can take things slow and really savor the moment. I start by getting the baby up and changed. I love playing a relaxing morning playlist while treating myself to an iced coffee and making breakfast. Omelets and yogurt are my go-to! The weather has been beautiful lately, so we've been enjoying our breakfast outside. I take the opportunity to read a good book while Rome happily runs around!

How would you describe your personal style?

I would describe my style as a perfect blend of classic and feminine! Growing up with beautiful women all around me, including three older sisters and a stylish mom, they’ve had a significant influence on my style. I'm naturally drawn to more feminine pieces as they make me feel like I'm playing dress up when I get ready. Cute patterns and vibrant colors are my absolute favorites. However, I also appreciate the timelessness of classic styles, as they never fail to create an elegant and polished look. So, it's a balance of both worlds, where I embrace the fun and experiment while staying true to those timeless fashion staples.

What advice would you give someone struggling to find their style?

The key to discovering my personal style was seeking inspiration, whether it came from another person, a designer, or a specific time period. Once I had that creative spark, I started searching for pieces that truly resonated with me. It's important to remember that finding your personal style takes time; mine is still a work in progress too. The key is to wear what makes you feel good and have fun experimenting with different looks! Embrace the journey of discovering and evolving your style.

Who are some of your favorite designers or brands? Why do you gravitate towards them?

The brands I tend to gravitate towards are Reformation, Dissh, Free People, and for Love and Lemons. Reformation offers some really good staples, and the quality ensures they will last me years! The overall vibe of Dissh perfectly aligns with my style, and I hardly ever come across something I don't like on their website. Free People is my go-to when I'm looking for fun patterns and unique silhouettes. Their clothing allows me to express myself creatively. Lastly, For Love and Lemons is so feminine with its use of vibrant colors and floral. Everything they offer is simply stunning, and I find myself constantly drawn to their designs.

What is your favorite trend right now you can’t get enough of?

I have been adoring the Mermaid-inspired fashion trend this summer! It seems that the release of "The Little Mermaid" set the perfect tone for this season's fashion. I can't get enough of the shell accessories, alluring metallics, and the fun fabrics. Everything about this trend is enchanting and has been a great way to add a touch of magic to my summer style.

What is a piece in your closet you think everyone should own?

A great fitting, comfortable pair of jeans is essential! It's the most versatile piece you can own - great for both day and night looks, and perfect for all seasons. My current favorite pair is the Alex High-Rise Straight jeans from Rag and Bone. They are simply perfect! Chef's kiss.

What is your favorite thing in your closet?

I must say, my Chanel Mini Rectangular flap bag takes the cake! It effortlessly elevates any outfit, whether it’s a casual brunch or a formal event. It holds a special place in both my heart and my wardrobe!

What is something sitting in your cart that you’re waiting to pull the trigger on?

My shopping cart is filled with quite a few dreamy things, but out of all the things, the Leyane Suede Cowboy Boots by Isabel Marant stand out. They have definitely caught my eye, and I can't stop thinking about them. I think they will be perfect for this fall season!

Go-to lip product?

My absolute favorites are the Hourglass Phantom Glossy Balms. Any shade works for me, but I particularly love "Sense." I pair that with the Mac lip liner in "Cork." It's my perfect lip combo!

What is a style tip or hack you can share with us?

Tailor your clothes! If there's a piece you love that doesn't fit you exactly how you like, consider tailoring it. This can elevate your style, boost your confidence, and adds a personal touch. It's a worthwhile investment!

Tell us one fun fact about yourself that people might not know about you.

I've grown up around horses! My aunt always had horses, and my favorite thing to do as a child was to go to her house, where I could wash, walk, and ride them. I grew to love horses so much, and I hope to have one in the future.

Who is your style icon?

At the moment, Sofia Richie is my style icon; she radiates elegance. Whenever I spot her wearing an outfit, I find myself immediately searching online to recreate the look. Also, Larissa Mills, a creator I admire, has been a great source of inspiration for me. She's introduced me to creative ways of layering clothes and accessorizing. She has also shown me some really unique designers and brands that have become favorites in my wardrobe!
